Area Food Pantry Gets "Shred" of Good Fortune
Electronics recycling and paper shredding event nets needed funds
You could say the Mukwonago Food Pantry got a "shred" of good fortune over the weekend thanks to area residents.
The pantry held a community "shred-it" event in which residents could recycle their old digital technologies, such as computers, stereos or cell phones, for a small fee. In addition, they could bring in a box of documents for shredding for a small fee as well.
When all was said and done, the event, which was held at the Mukwonago Food Pantry Resource Center, 225 Eagle Lake Ave., raised $1,800.
"Digital Recycling in Waukesha along with the North Prairie Auxiliary did a wonderful job helping us put this together," said Jennie Longfellow of the Mukwonago Food Pantry. "We are still accepting small electronics (No TV's) all this week and plan on doing this again in October."
Volunteers needed for food drive
The Mukwonago Food Pantry will be hosting the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is looking for volunteers.
