Man Accused Of 6-Hour Waukesha Standoff Charged: Report
Police say the man accused of a six-hour standoff pointed an assault-style weapon at several others before he was arrested.
WAUKESHA, WI -- Police in Waukesha say the man they arrested after a six-hour standoff on E. Main Street over the weekend has been charged in Waukesha County court.
According to court records, Jose Quinones has been charged in court with possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon. Quinones is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
On Sunday, Oct. 7 at just after 7 p.m, Waukesha police officers were dispatched to a fight in the 200 block of E. Main St. after authorities received multiple 911 calls about a suspect from that fight that was now on Main St. with an apparent assault rifle who was threatening other citizens and looking for the other person he had been fighting with, police reported.

Waukesha Police Captain Dan Baumann said that officers were able to quickly secure the area and isolate the suspect to a building in the 200 block of E Main St.
According to police reports the man barricaded himself in his home for several hours, as police stationed outside issued commands and attempted to negotiate with him to surrender. The City of Waukesha Police Department’s SWAT team was called out to the scene to assist in the man's eventual arrest. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit as well as several deputies also responded.

At about 1 a.m. Monday, police said the suspect was safely taken into custody. Officers and Investigators searched throughout the early morning in an attempt to locate the firearm that was used in this crime.
The City of Milwaukee Police Department’s Firearm Recovery K9 Unit managed to locate the firearm in a neighboring back yard.
Baumann said the team of agents that worked on this incident understood the public safety concern if the man's firearm had not been located.
"Safety is the number one priority here at the Waukesha Police Department and today was an example of the tenacity of the officers ensuring a safe community. Also, Teamwork, we continue to actively work together with our law enforcement partners to complete our mission," he said.
