Boy, 6, Hit And Killed By Pickup While Riding Bike In Waukesha
Despite intensive medical care, the boy succumbed to his injuries from being hit by the truck. The driver stayed on the scene.

WAUKESHA, WI — It was a tragic night Saturday, July 14, for the family of a 6-year-old boy who was killed by a pickup truck while riding his bike in Waukesha. Police responded soon after 9:30 p.m. after receiving several calls about the accident, according to a press release from the Waukesha Police Department.
The family was walking home from Dairy Queen. As they were crossing the street at the intersection of E. Racine Avenue and Cheviot Chase, the pickup truck hit the mother and the boy.
The boy was taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Despite intensive medical attention, the boy didn't make it. "It is with our deepest sympathy to inform you that even with advanced medical intervention by emergency responders and hospital personnel the 6-year-old bicyclist passed away at Waukesha Memorial Hospital," the press release says.
The driver of the pickup stayed on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police said the District Attorney will review the investigation and determine whether citations or charges are to be filed.

Police have not released the boy's identity. Police are not releasing any more information "in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
The Waukesha Police Department released a statement from the boy's family:
“Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers for our family during this very difficult time. We ask you to continue to pray and respect our privacy during this time of grieving.”
