Carroll students assemble medical supplies for World Vision

Carroll University student members of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Social Justice League have organized an event to assemble Caregiver Kits for World Vision, a global humanitarian organization focused on poverty and injustice.

The 90 kits will be assembled on Thursday, April 25, 2013, starting at 6 p.m., in the MacAllister Boardroom of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Community members are welcome to assist. The students also hope to raise $1,000 to contribute to World Vision’s efforts.

Each kit includes latex gloves, antibacterial soap, acetaminophen, antifungal cream, petroleum jelly and other basic medical supplies. These items will help prolong lives, comfort patients, protect caregivers and prevent the spread of infection. World Vision-trained volunteer caregivers will use the kits in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

“Assembling the Caregiver Kits is a way to demonstrate the Gospel, not just verbalize it,” said Lindsey Uitz, campus staff for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. “We hope to do the same on Thursday by making more kits for volunteers assisting people living with HIV and AIDS.”
