Visiting author is Carroll alumnus

Carroll University welcomes Ron Rindo, a 1981 graduate, back to campus for a reading of his award-winning fiction. The author of the short story collection, “Love in an Expanding Universe,” will present on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the Humphrey Memorial Chapel, 238 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This event is free and open to the public.

Rindo has two other short story collections, “Secrets Men Keep” and “Suburban Metaphysics and Other Stories.” The recipient of Wisconsin Arts Board fellowships in 2003 and 2009, he has twice earned Outstanding Achievement recognition from the Wisconsin Library Association for his work. A Kirkus starred review called “Love in an Expanding Universe” “gloriously inventive work from a master of the form.” His writing appears in a variety of magazines and journals; his essay, “Gyromancy,” is collected in “The Best American Essays 2010.” Rindo is a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he teaches fiction writing, nature writing and American literature. He lives near Pickett with his wife and five children.
