Carroll choirs present "Harvest Home" concert

A concert featuring three of Carroll University’s student choirs will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. “Harvest Home” will be in Shattuck Music Center, 218 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

Concert Choir and Vocal Collective are led by Seth Houston, director of choral activities. Women’s Ensemble is directed by Paula Foley Tillen, a 1980 Carroll graduate. The choirs will be joined by pianists Rhonda Kwiecien and Anne Farrey. Also accompanying the choirs will be Jazz Ensemble, directed by Pete Lange, a music teacher at Catholic Memorial High School.

“Harvest Home,” explores the ideas of harvest and homeland through music from the Renaissance through the present. Composers have understood harvest not just as the end of the year but as a metaphor for the human condition. The themes of homeland lost, longed for and attained have captivated composers for centuries.
