Democrats shout down Paul Ryan After Moment of Silence for Orlando Shooting Victims

Democrats upset over Speaker Paul Ryan's actions after moment of silence shouted "no leadership," and "where's the bill?"

Shouting erupted Monday evening on the House floor after a moment of silence for the victims of the Orlando massacre, and Speaker Paul Ryan was right in the middle of it.

According to a report out of Washington by CBS, after the brief moment of silence that Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, called for, Democrats began shouting from one side of the chamber, interrupting Ryan. Ryan's office only tweeted out a clip of the moment of silence, but not the shouting that followed.

Here is a video of the full incident:

If you are watching the video, you can hear Democrats shouting, "Where's the bill?" and "No leadership." Democrats were angry that Ryan had not let the body consider bills intended to curb gun violence.

According to a report by the Associated Press, "A handful of Democrats left the House floor during the moment of silence, including Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes. Himes said earlier Monday in an interview that he's done with the moments typically held on the House floor after mass shootings, calling them 'obnoxious expressions of smug incompetence' and the perfect metaphor for congressional inaction on guns."
