Driver Hit 115 MPH, Severely Injured Pedestrian: Report

Police say they tried to pull over a driver in Waukesha, only to lead to a 12-mile chase that ended up in Milwaukee.

WAUKESHA, WI — Police in Waukesha are looking for a suspect they say fled a traffic stop in Waukesha, severely injured a pedestrian and eluded police in Milwaukee.

According to Waukesha police reports, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle at E. Park Ave. and N. Barstow St. just before 2 a.m. on July 29 for an unspecified reason. The driver failed to identify himself, gave false information, and reports indicated that the driver took off south on Barstow.

Reports indicated that the driver blew a stop sign on Arcadian at 50 miles per hour. Next, the suspect passed Perkins at 60 miles per hour. The driver hit 60 miles per hour as he approached Main Street, and was up to 80 miles per hour on Moreland.

According to reports, the driver got onto I-94 headed for Milwaukee and fled police at up to 115 miles per hour.

According to reports, the vehicle was spotted in the West Allis area near Milwaukee where it struck a pedestrian at the 5800 block of W. Bluemound Road. The victim suffered an apparent head injury and broken legs as the driver of the fleeing vehicle continued east on Bluemound.

The total length of the police pursuit was 12 miles before the suspect managed to elude pursuing officers.
