Driver Hit Sign Twice, Then Squad Car: Report

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Police in Whitefish Bay say they arrested a 58-year-old Milwaukee man after he reportedly ran his car into a sign two times in addition to colliding with a police squad car.

According to Whitefish Bay police call logs, officers were at the parking lot of Winkie's, 629 E. Silver Spring Drive, just before 6 p.m. on July 29.

An officer on patrol reported seeing the man strike a sign two times as he attempted to drive his car into the parking lot. The officer then watched as the same driver backed into their police squad car.

Police made contact with the man, and he was eventually arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs. The driver consented to a legal blood draw at St. Mary's Hospital before being booked, cited and released to a responsible party.
