Drunk Man Flees Police At 80 MPH In Downtown Waukesha

A man arrested for drunk driving tried fleeing officers, only to realize that it was a bad idea.

WAUKESHA, WI — A man arrested for drunk driving tried fleeing officers, only to realize that it was a bad idea.

Waukesha police attempted a traffic stop near the area of Madison St. and W. St. Paul Ave., only to have the driver of the vehicle flee at high speeds, before eventually being caught by officers.

According to police reports, the driver of a vehicle was driving 80 miles per hour down St. Paul when it hit a curb and kept on going.

According to police, officers had traffic stopped at Main and Maple as well as shutting down traffic at Five Points to avoid any incidents as the driver fled police.

According to reports, officers managed to stop the driver at Clinton and Main just after 2 a.m. after about a half-mile chase.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving and was transported to the hospital for a legal blood draw.

The man's vehicle, a blue Jeep, was towed from the scene.
