Elderly Driver Lost In Waukesha For Hours on Christmas: Police

Police say that an elderly woman was lost for hours on Christmas, trying to find her way to a family gathering in Brookfield.

WAUKESHA, WI — An elderly woman has been ordered to re-take the state DMV test after police said she nearly hit another driver head-on in Waukesha while she was lost on her way to a Christmas family gathering.

According to police reports, a caller reported that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on highway 59 and was driving erratically almost striking another vehicle head-on.

Police reports indicated that the woman's daughter filed a missing person report with Watertown Police because the woman was due to a Christmas family gathering in Brookfield at 1 p.m. By the time police pulled the elderly woman over, it was after 5 p.m.

Waukesha police told Patch.com that after a short pursuit, officers discovered that it was an elderly driver who was confused and may have been suffering from a medical issue.

Police said a driver re-test was requested from the DMV for the driver of the vehicle. No citations or arrests were made.
