The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a high dose seasonal inuenza vaccine for people age 65 and older. Vaccines are the most powerful public health tool to control inuenza. The 2011-2012 high dose and regular dose vaccines are now available at Summit Woods on October 20th, 2011.

As we age, our immune defense system becomes weaker and places older people at greater risk to illness from influenza. The high dose flu vaccine should give people 65 years and older a better immune response and protection against the flu.
