New UW-Waukesha Continuing Education Fast-Forward Math Class helps Graduating High School Seniors Get Ahead! (MATH 110)
Whether you are going to UW-Waukesha in the fall, or another school, a new innovative and accelerated math program through UW-Waukesha Continuing Education will help graduating high school seniors hit the ground running. “Get Ahead” and receive college credit this summer by taking Math: Get Ahead (The Fast-Forward). Students heading into their freshman year of college beat the low success rate in math, save time, money and lighten their class load for the fall semester.
MATH 110: College Algebra (3 cr.)
Definition of function; linear and non-linear functions and graphs including logarithmic and exponential functions; systems of linear equations; theory of polynomial equations, and optional topics such as mathematical induction, matrix solution of linear systems, and Cramer's rule. Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in MATH 105 or placement based on placement test score. *Laptops are suggested

This ground-breaking approach to teaching college algebra is taught by Prof. Alexey Kryukov, a National Science Foundation scholar and a highly successful teacher in undergraduate and graduate level courses in mathematics, mathematical physics, quantum theory and engineering. Prof. Kryukov helped write ALEKS educational software, which is used by the University of Wisconsin and by many other universities.

The course stresses a few core concepts, taught and practiced one at a time. The lectures are video recorded and the lecture notes are available online which can be accessed by those enrolled. This innovative program will be used for future students on campus and we invite all students, high school graduates and continuing college students to join us. This is a great opportunity to be part of something state of the art and groundbreaking!
