Family Of Missing Autistic Boy Reunited After Scare: Police

Police said it appeared the family had measures in place to prevent the child from escaping, but he was able to get out anyway.

WAUKESHA, WI — A five-year-old autistic boy was safely reunited with his family after the child went missing late Wednesday.

According to police reports, a concerned citizen on the 300 block of Greenmeadow Drive called the police, saying that they found a non-verbal five-year-old boy who was lost. According to the report, he was wearing a red and black shirt, blue jeans did not have any shoes on, and was wearing a set of earmuffs.

Waukesha police told Patch.com that several officers arrived at the caller's house, and began knocking on front doors in the neighborhood and stopping cars driving through the area in an effort to find the child's parents.

According to police, a vehicle was stopped about 10 minutes into the search that contained the father of the autistic child who was frantically looking for him. At that point, they were safely reunited, police said.
