Farmers Market Vouchers Now Available For Seniors

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County will administer the Senior Farmers' Market Voucher Nutrition Program.

From the Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services: The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Waukesha County will administer the Senior Farmers’ Market Voucher Nutrition Program (SFMNP) starting June 1st. Seniors who are at least 60 years old (Native Americans 55 years or older) and have household incomes 185% or less than the federal poverty income guidelines are eligible to receive $25 worth of vouchers to purchase fresh, nutritious, unprepared fruits, vegetables, and herbs from farmers' markets and roadside stands.

Vouchers are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to $25 per household. Vouchers cannot be mailed. The participant or authorized representative must visit the distribution site in person to receive the vouchers. A proxy can represent up to four individuals and must provide a signed statement from the eligible senior designating the individual as his/her authorized representative. The proxy must also have the full name, address, phone number and date of birth of the eligible senior to complete the application.
