Firefighters Save 86-Year-Old Lisbon Man: Report

Braving record wind chills, area firefighters saved the life of an 86-year-old Town of Lisbon man after deputies saw the house was in flames

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI -- Braving record wind chills, area firefighters saved the life of an 86-year-old Town of Lisbon man after his home was reportedly engulfed in flames Tuesday night.

According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's office, just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, emergency responders were called out to a home on Good Hope Road in the Town of Lisbon on a report of a house fire.

When they arrived, deputies reported seeing that the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Deputies began to check the residence for any occupants, but due to the heavy smoke and flames were not able to get inside.

Members of the Lisbon Fire Department arrived on scene and entered the residence locating an 86-year-old man in the bedroom. Authorities say he was rescued from the residence and
transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. He is currently in critical condition. One
Deputy was also treated and released from the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and the fire remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office.
