Funeral Services Scheduled for Man Killed By Fall from Rock

Funeral services for a 29-year-old Waukesha man who was found dead after falling at least 100 feet from Gibraltar Rock in central Wisconsin has been scheduled for Saturday.

David A. Hoelzer’s obituary states the visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and an eulogy will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 1875 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield.

Hoelzer apparently was by himself at the time of his fall Friday afternoon. Authorities are continuing the investigation into Hoelzer’s death but the death is not being considered suspicious, Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards said.

A caller contacted authorities at 2:43 p.m. Friday to report that the body was laying below the rock’s crest in central Wisconsin.

Hoelzer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident remains under investigation by the Columbia County sheriff’s department and medical examiner’s office.
