About a decade ago, Tonette and I started a wonderful tradition in our household. After opening a few gifts with our sons Matt and Alex, we took a break and helped serve a feast to those without a place to go on Christmas Day.
At first, we thought our kids would be upset with having to set down that new toy or game. Instead, they looked forward each year to the chance to serve. We all came to enjoy the giving as much as the gifts during the holidays.
