Woman Scares Burglar Away By Pretending To Have Gun: Report
When Vikki Hekkers woke to find a man trying to break into her house, she remembered some of her training to scare the suspect off.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha police say they caught a man who was trying to break into a home on the 400 block of W. Main St. after a person in the house scared him away with a handgun.
On Sunday April 8 at just after 4 a.m., Waukesha police responded to a home on the 400 block of W. Main St. on a report of a burglary in progress.
According to police reports, a white man with short dark hair, wearing a flowery teal-colored shirt was attempting to break into the residence, only to be scared away.

According to a Journal Sentinel report, homeowner Vikki Hekkers woke up to the sound of the suspect walking on their deck and attempting to open the door.
"I spun around and pretended I had a gun in my hand," Hekkers said to the Journal Sentinel. "I took a wide stance, I held it out and I started yelling, 'I have a gun.' And the guy stopped." The suspect reportedly froze until husband Tom Hekkers charged into the living room, shotgun in hand.

According to police reports, police made a check of the area near the 400 block of Main St. and managed to take the suspect into custody.
Police identified the suspect as Edwin R Rodriguez, 23. Apparently identifying him wasn't all that hard, after police said that his cellphone and a credit card was found near the house in the area where he began to run away. Police said they tracked Rodriguez to a house across the street where he was arrested.
He was cited with trespassing and disorderly conduct - both municipal citations - and held at the Waukesha Police Department.
