How A Wisconsin Couple's $20,000 Car Ended Up In a Pool

Police say a Waukesha man and his fiancee made a splash before their wedding date - just not the kind they hoped to make.

WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha man and his fiancee made a big splash before their eventual wedding date, but police are reporting that it was not the type they wanted.

Waukesha police responded to the 2300 block of Parklawn Drive just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a one-vehicle accident with injuries.

Waukesha police told Patch that officers arrived and learned that the driver of a 2017 Buick Verano had driven into the apartment complex's swimming pool.

Police said officers conducted an investigation and determined that a Waukesha man and his fiancee, who was a passenger, pulled into a parking stall near the pool.

Police said the driver decided to pull further forward toward a concrete curb, only to hit the accelerator too hard. The car careened down an embankment, through a chain link fence, and into the pool.

After initial reports that the man and woman were injured, police said the couple was able to crawl out of the car, and also the pool, and were unharmed.

Police said a tow was requested and it was determined the vehicle could not be winched out.
