Brookfield, Madison Men Both Died In Waukesha Crash: Report

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Waukesha County have identified the two people who died in Friday afternoon's I-94 crash near Delafield.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's office is reporting that Sean M. Scherer, 30, Madison and Freddie L. Johnson, 58, Brookfield, both died in the crash.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office, City of Delafield Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Delafield Fire Departments and the City of Pewaukee Fire Department responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles in the westbound lanes of I-94 near Elmhurst, both with severe damage. Authorities say Scherer was driving east on I-94 when he lost control, crossed the center median and struck a vehicle operated by Johnson, who was traveling west on I-94, authorities say.

Despite lifesaving efforts, Scherer was pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnson was transported by EMS for life threatening injuries.

Traffic on I-94 was impacted for several hours and the accident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Unit.
