Intentional Success - Giving through awareness

Elevated Insurance engages non-profits across several counties

Over the past year, most of us focused on our personal goals, professional goals, and family goals. Elevated Insurance focused on our community, engaging non-profits across several counties. We’ve had several clients ask about the most effective ways to give. After some thought, we realized there are three main resources one can give: time, money, and awareness. We’ll cover all three going forward – this blog will focus on awareness.

The biggest challenge in getting involved is getting started. Awareness is simply understanding what opportunities exist for us to volunteer our time, our talents and our gifts of resources.

The easiest way I’ve discovered to spread the word of giving opportunities is to spend a few hours with a handful of non-profits. Even 2-3 hours provides you an introduction to their mission, their leaders, and the type of services needed to grow their cause. Here are a few of organizations Elevated Insurance has had the pleasure to serve: Food Panty of Waukesha, Next Door Milwaukee, Habitat for Humanity, Life Navigators, National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee, ALS Association of Wisconsin, and the Rotary Club of Elmbrook.

After working with these organizations, I’m better able to direct folks to something that might speak to the ways they would prefer to serve their fellow humans. Based on interest, I may suggest:

  • Want to put together a drive at work? How about books for Next Door, resources for Life’s Navigators, or eggs for the Waukesha County Food Pantry?
  • Like getting your hands dirty? Build a house with Habitat, or clean books for Next Door.
  • Have a passion for meeting other passionate people? Do a walk with Children’s Hospital or ALS of Wisconsin
  • Want to connect with folks who truly appreciate someone who can listen? Life Navigators or NAMI

Be aware that the natural high of helping people who need just a bit more support to get to a better spot is addictive, inspiring, and incredible. Once you’ve had someone genuinely thank you for your involvement, or a friend say, “Thanks for recommending that organization, I’m involved monthly now,” your understanding of giving yourself for another will become much more clear.

I hope this provides ideas to raise awareness of giving opportunities that make an impact in our community. Maybe it’s simply working with an insurance agent that supports multiple causes, maybe it’s getting involved and having an adventure yourself. Stay tuned for more specific ideas on giving time and/or financial resources to folks who could really use someone in their corner.

We encourage you to insure differently. We are driven to serve.
