Kitchen Fire Temporarily Displaces Waukesha Family: Report

The Waukesha Fire Department said the home's residents were placed in an ambulance for shelter.

WAUKESHA, WI -- A kitchen fire caused by some home cooking Saturday afternoon temporarily displaced a family in Waukesha, fire officials say.

The Waukesha Fire and Police Department responded to a report of a fire at 1508 N. Grandview Blvd. at just after noon on Saturday.

Officials said the fire was reported by a neighbor, who said that there was smoke coming from the roof and believed there were still people inside. When authorities arrived on-scene, they found a single-family home with smoke coming from a kitchen window, and two people in the front yard.

When firefighters enter into the home, crews found the fire had been extinguished prior to their arrival.

The Waukesha Fire Department said the home's residents were placed in an ambulance for shelter while they verified the fire was out.

Investigators said the fire started in the kitchen, and was caused by cooking. Investigators determined that the home was still inhabitable, and the family was allowed to go back inside once the scene had been cleared.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, officials said.
