WAUKESHA, WI — As the Waukesha area celebrated Independence Day in style, police were on the job and responded to nearly 50 calls for illegal fireworks on the evening of the Fourth of July.

10:34 p.m. 1000 block of Pearl St. - Family was reportedly shooting off fireworks from the road. Police said the group was uncooperative and told that they would be cited if they continued to light off fireworks.

10:31 p.m. 300 block of Dodie Drive - Large mortar rounds were being lit off. No report filed.

10:25 p.m. Anoka Ave. and Perkins Ave. Smokebombs going off underneath vehicles. Gone on arrival.

10:11 p.m. 1500 block Summit Ave. - Gone on arrival.

10:06 p.m. S. Grand Ave. and Richard St. - Gone on arrival.

10:03 p.m. 500 block of Bell St. - Police received a report of two men and a woman walking past a resident's house. They threw a firework at her house, hitting a tree. They were intoxciated and walked to Lake and Lincoln. They were gone upon police arrival, according to reports.

10:01 p.m. W. Laflin Ave. and S. Grand Ave. - People advised.

9:57 p.m. 300 block of Dodie Drive - Fireworks coming from next door. People were advised by police.

9:51 p.m. Woodward St. and Linden St. - Gone upon arrival.

9:50 p.m. 2000 block of S. Grand Ave. People were advised by police.

9:41 p.m. 2200 block of W. St. Paul Ave. Police learned that three people were in the parking lot getting ready to light off fireworks. They were gone upon the arrival of police.

9:37 p.m. Kensington Drive and W. St. Paul Ave. Gone upon arrival.

9:35 p.m. 2000 block of S. Grand Ave. No report - people were lighting sparklers.

9:32 p.m. 600 block of Perkins Ave. - People lighting off fireworks moved to Lincoln Ave. and Frederick in a gravel lot. - Gone upon arrival.

9:32 p.m. Jasper Lane and Sherryl Lane - Gone upon arrival.

9:31 p.m. Garland Ave. and N. Grandview Blvd. - Gone upon arrival.

9:27 p.m. Fox River Pkwy. and W Sunset Dr. - Fireworks being let off in the alley. Gone upon arrival.

9:26 p.m. Rivers Crossing Dr/Oxbow Dr. - Gone upon arrival.

9:11 p.m. S. James. St. and E. Laflin Ave. - No report.

9:06 p.m. 600 block of Oxford Road - Residents were told about local fireworks ordinance and they agreed to stop shooting off fireworks.

8:59 p.m. 500 block of N. Greenfield Ave. - No Report.

8:54 p.m. Broken Hill Ct/Hunting Ridge Rd - No Report.

8:54 p.m. Oakdale Dr/River Place Blvd. - Gone upon arrival.

8:52 p.m. 2000 block of Coronado St. - Fireworks were set off and debris had fallen in the caller's yard. The residents across the street told police that they would stop lighting off fireworks.

8:48 p.m. 300 block of N. Greenfield Ave. - Residents reminded of local ordinances against lighting off fireworks.

8:35 p.m. 300 block of Coolidge Ave. - Fireworks were reportedly being set off next to a parked car. People were advised by police.

8:23 p.m. Carroll St/N Grand Ave - No Report.

8:23 p.m. 100 block of Garfield Ave. - Residents were reportedly shooting off fireworks in the middle of the road. They were reminded of city ordinance against shooting off fireworks.

6:16 p.m. 200 block of Randall St. - No report
