Local Teen Wins Regional Music Competition

Seventeen-year-old musician and WAMI member, Becca Richter, won the regional “Big Star US Tour” competition last week in Madison. Singers/songwriters from around the state competed for the title by performing two of their original songs. Becca sang her originals I Know Your Name and You’re the One, which can be heard along with her interview on http://www.BeccaRichter.com.
Becca overwhelming won by audience applause and was awarded $100 and the opportunity to have her music heard by music legends like Bobby Kimball, lead singer of Toto and Jeff Cook of Alabama, as well as, music executives like Kevin Hovey, who works with Sony artists like Adele, Prince, Mariah Carey and Ricky Martin.
Becca will now advance to the finale, which most likely will take place in Minneapolis next year. This will not be the last competition Becca participates in as she will be competing in “Milwaukee’s Got Talent” today at the Frontier Airlines Convention Center as part of Milwaukee’s Winterfest. Becca is also slated to perform at Winterfest at 11 a.m. Monday and at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the convention center.
