Man Arrested in Attic in Jefferson Ave. Burglary Call

Waukesha police arrested a man hiding in the attic of a Jefferson Ave. home, but not before they had to breach the door.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha police arrested a man hiding in the attic of a Jefferson Ave. home, but not before they had to breach the door and send in the department's surveillance robot.

Waukesha police responded to a burglary in progress on the 1500 block of Jefferson Ave. just after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police reports, a caller reported that the tenants of the residence moved out two weeks ago, and just watched as a man exited a black Ford sedan and walked into the front door.

The person who called police stated it's not the property owner and he's never seen this person before and thought the house was locked up.

Two squads were dispatched and arrived on scene a few minutes later.

According to police, the man wasn't coming out ater police made announcements for the man to exit the building.

Police breached the east side door of the building just after 11 p.m. and sent in the department's surveillance robot.

By 11:20 p.m., officers entered the building, and cleared the first and second floors before finding the man hiding in the attic.
