A woman is recovering from life-threatening injuries after police say she was stabbed in the back by a man while three children were present

WAUKESHA, WI — A woman is recovering in the hospital Monday after authorities say she was stabbed in the back while inside her home Saturday night.
Waukesha police responded to a home on the 800 block of Rock Street just after 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 on a report of a stabbing.
According to police reports, a person called authorities saying that a man stabbed a woman, and that the woman was laying on the ground with a knife in her back.

Reports indicated that several officers responded to the scene, and within three minutes of the police call, the man had been arrested and first responders were with the victim.
According to a report from WTMJ, three young children were inside the home during the stabbing and police are considering them witnesses in this case. They have been placed with other family members.

The woman was transported to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital emergency room with serious injuries. She is recovering from life-threatening injuries.
