Man Tried Avoiding Traffic Stop By Fleeing Into House: Report

Police told Patch that an officer on patrol initially tried to pull the driver of a vehicle for an equipment violation.

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha say a man has been arrested and is awaiting charges after he fled a traffic stop, and tried hiding inside a house in order to avoid police.

According to police call logs, additional officers responded to the area of Saratoga Road and Butler Drive at just before 1:30 a.m. on July 21 on a report of a vehicle pursuit. Police told Patch that an officer on patrol tried to pull over a vehicle for an equipment violation near the intersection of Rambling Rose and Sunnyside Drive.

Police said the driver did not stop, and fled to a nearby home. He ran into the garage, and then into the house, police said. Police told Patch that they set up a perimeter around the house before ultimately getting the man to come out of the house.
