Milwaukee County Jail Inmate Dies Overnight

He lost consciousness at the jail clinic, and immediate CPR lifesaving efforts by jail staff and MFD were unsuccessful to revive him.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office is handling an investigation after a Milwaukee County Jail inmate died Tuesday night.

According to Sheriff's officials, Tuesday night at about 10:00 p.m., a 51-year-old jail inmate complained of not feeling well.

Medical staff immediately responded to assess his condition and called for an Milwaukee Fire Department's med unit. He lost consciousness at the jail clinic, and immediate CPR lifesaving efforts by jail staff and MFD were unsuccessful to revive him. He was pronounced dead by MFD paramedics.

The inmate was brought in to the jail on August 29 at 2:30 a.m. by the Milwaukee Police Department. Preliminary results from the autopsy done this morning by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner found advanced heart disease and a blood clot (among the findings in the Medical Examiner's report: acute thrombus right coronary artery, severe coronary atherosclerosis).

Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department detectives are handling the death investigation.
