Milwaukee Police Officer Shot By Fellow Officer

A Milwaukee police officer was shot by accident by a fellow officer after a pack of vicious dogs charged the officers during a fight call.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee police officer was shot by accident by a fellow officer after a pack of vicious dogs charged the officers during a fight call late Thursday.

According to a release from the Milwaukee Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 10 p.m. Thursday on a report of a fight near 36th and Toronto Streets. During their investigation, a pack of dogs in the residence they responded to charged the officers.

Officers attempted to halt the dogs first with non-lethal force. Police say an officer lastly resorted to shooting at the dogs, only to strike his fellow officer.

According to WISN, the officer who fired the shot has five-and-a-half years experience with the force and the officer shot is 32 years old with five years experience. The officer struck suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The officer who discharged their weapon has been placed on desk duty, according to police.
