Movers For Moms Donation Drive To Benefit Area Shelters

Two Men and a Truck are raising funds and supplies for the Women's Center of Waukesha, The Hebron House and Safe Babies Healthy Families.

WAUKESHA, WI — With Mother's Day approaching a Waukesha moving company is gearing up for a donation drive to benefit three area nonprofits.

Two Men and a Truck is partnering with area businesses in Waukesha for their annual Movers for Moms drive, in which they collect personal care items over the next several weeks. The drive focuses on collecting essential care items to make shelter life easier for moms who are also victims of domestic violence. The local shelters include Women's Center of Waukesha, The Hebron House and Safe Babies Healthy Families.

Angela Mancuso of the Women's Center of Waukesha told Patch that they have a real-time wish list on their website. Many of the items her organization needs are the items that Two Men and a Truck help to raise: day-to-day necessities, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, hand sanitizer, kitchen towels, tissue, toilet paper, bleach wipes and more.

Last year was the program’s most successful year-to-date, with more than 330,000 items collected for donation to hundreds of shelters across the country nationally, and this year, they're hoping to collect more than 430,000 items for moms in need across the country.

Shalimar Rydzik of Two Men and a Truck told Waukesha Patch that there are about 28 local partners here in Waukesha including Roots Cafe in Oconomowoc, who adds a little excitement to the donation drive by making "Lavender Lattes" with proceeds going to the donation effort.

There will also be a Stuff the Truck event April 21 at Walmart in Pewaukee where customers can donate items right at the store exit. And this year, Rydzik said the business who donates the most items will have a free lunch for their entire staff courtesy of Two Men and a Truck.
