
Ysidra S. Garcia, of Waukesha, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at the Virginia Health and Rehab Center at the age of 79.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1932, in Waukesha, the daughter of Anthony and Rafaela (nee Hernandez) Mindiola. On Sept. 17, 1949, she married Armando Garcia at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha, where she has been a lifetime member and was active with the Guadalupana’s Society. For many years she was the head chef at Aliota’s Restaurant. She then worked as a case aid at Catholic Social Services, retiring in 1999.
She will be sadly missed by her children Mona Garcia, John (Lynn) Garcia, Amanda (John) Couden and Amelie (Mark) Hillmer all of Waukesha and Vivian (Ken) Lapp of Mukwonago. Dear grandmother of Christopher (Michelle) Garcia of Sussex, Shelby (Rick) Romero of Waukesha, Ryan (Shauna) Heflin of New Jersey, Joshua (Carmen) Couden, Edward Heflin, Elizabeth Couden, Justin Garcia, Jeremy Garcia and Holley (Lupe) Godina all of Waukesha. Proud great grandmother of Logan, Karley, Madeline, Ashley, Nicholas, Emily, Michael, Alexis, Kylie, Hunter, Mariah and Arianna. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters Lupe (Yacinto) Baretto of Waukesha, Stanley (Ophelia) Mindiola of Waukesha, The late Anthony (Sandy) Mindiola of Florida, John (Bonnie) Mindiola of Waukesha, Julia (James) Cervantes of Waukesha, Anthony Lopez of Waukesha, Mattias (Mary) Lopez of Waukesha and John (Unmi) Lopez of Atlanta, GA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Armando on July 5, 2009.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Home & Hospice Advantage for the compassionate care given to Ysidra in her final days.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. Rosary service at 1110 S. Grand Ave. in Waukesha. Services continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 8, with prayers beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by the procession to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha for the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
