Pokemon Go Player Mistook For Potential Thief

A young man playing the GPS-enabled Pokemon Go game on his smartphone drew a police call by a concerned citizen Wednesday morning.

WAUKESHA, WI — A young man playing the GPS-enabled Pokemon Go game on his smartphone drew a police call after a concerned citizen thought he was casing vehicles Wednesday morning in Waukesha.

Waukesha police responded to the 1100 block of Delafield St. on a report of a suspicious person just before 9 a.m.

According to reports, the man was driving a blue Ford Escort in the east parking lot and appeared suspicious.

When police made contact with him, he admitted to playing Pokemon Go while waiting for his father-in-law to finish his cataract procedure.

Police made contact with the father-in-law a short time later to verify that he was, indeed, a cataract patient.
