Police Break Off High-Speed Car Chase: Report

The pursuit lasted 1.7 miles, reaching speeds of approximately 92 miles per hour.

WAUKESHA, WI -- Waukesha police broke off a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle early Wednesday morning after the vehicle fled an apparent traffic stop.

According to police, a Waukesha police officer was on patrol in the area of Springdale Road and Bluemound Roads when the driver of a vehicle fled officers.

Waukesha police told Patch that officers were pursuing the driver of a black Chevy Cruze in the area of Sunnyside Drive and Rambling Rose Road. The pursuit lasted 1.7 miles, reaching speeds of approximately 92 miles per hour.

Police said due to the hazards of the pursuit, it was terminated on Springdale Road at Watertown Road. The case is still under investigation, no one is in custody.
