Police Called on 13-Year-Old Who Saved Up Birthday Money

Police were called on a 13-year-old Waukesha boy at Walmart after store management thought he was suspicious.

WAUKESHA, WI — Police were called on a 13-year-old Waukesha boy at Walmart after store management thought he was suspicious. As it turned out, the boy was buying gifts for his siblings, using his own birthday money that he saved up.

According to Waukesha police reports, a store manager called police just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday on a report that a boy was unloading "stacks and stacks" of money out of his backpack. The boy discarded the backpack once all of the money had been emptied from the backpack. He reportedly bought electronics, including a number of tablets, and proceeded to throw the packaging and receipts away immediately after purchase.

Reports indicated that the boy exited and entered the store several times during the course of his spending spree.

When police arrived, they spoke with a store employee who knew where the boy lived. Police traveled to the boy's residence where they learned that he had saved all his birthday money to buy gifts for his siblings.
