Police Chase For Wanted Man Started At Waukesha Walmart: Report

A man accused of driving a stolen car led police on a chase through Waukesha beginning at the Walmart. He managed to elude authorities.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha police responded to the Walmart to assist the Walworth County Sheriff's department in arresting an at-large suspect accused of driving a stolen vehicle.

According to police reports, officers responded just after midnight on June 7 to the Walmart on S. West Ave. in a report that the suspect, listed as William E. Erickson, was leaving the Walmart parking lot with a stolen vehicle.

Police said those responding officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of College and Prairie, only to have the vehicle flee an attempted traffic stop.

Police said the vehicle was pursued until it left the city on I-94. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office took over control of the pursuit.

Officials said that the pursuit continued until the vehicle went off the road near the Waukesha County-Jefferson County line. The operator of the vehicle was able to evade arrest.
