WAUKESHA, WI — Police responded to a construction area in Waukesha after a construction worker said drivers were ignoring the posted road closed signs.

According to Waukesha police, a Waukesha police officer stationed near the road closed signs at the intersection of Perkins Ave. and E. Main Street made multiple traffic stops starting on the evening of May 7 after a construction worker reported that drivers were ignoring the road closed signs.

Police said the worker stated that drivers were bypassing the road closed signs and driving onto Main Street off the side streets on a regular basis.

According to reports, during the first two hours of an officer being stationed in the area, the officer logged six traffic stops. Police told Waukesha Patch that officers have been stationed in this area throughout their work shifts and stopping and citing drivers who drive through the road closed signs.
