Police Rescue Man Who Tried To Help Trapped Ducklings: Report

A scooter-riding 79-year-old man tried to help ducklings trapped in a Waukesha storm drain - until he needed help himself.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha police responded to the 800 block of N. East Ave. just before 2 p.m. on June 21 on a report that an elderly person needed help.

According to police reports, a 79-year-old man was using his 3-wheeled mobility scooter when he happened upon a group of ducklings that were stuck in the catch basin of a storm sewer.

Reports stated that as the man turned his scooter in preparation for helping the ducklings, he turned the wheel too sharply and tipped over in the area in front of the First Presbyterian Church.

Reports stated that he bumped his head and arm in the accident. He was helped by authorities at the scene, and no further injuries or complications were reported.
