​Pot Smoker Tells Waukesha Police They'd Find '20 Roaches in Ash Tray'

When police pulled over a habitual pot smoker by admission, the man told police what they'd find if they conducted a search.

WAUKESHA, WI — A habitual pot smoker by admission with his three kids in the car told police they would likely find "20 roaches in the ash tray" after police pulled his vehicle over Wednesday in Waukesha.

The traffic stop took place just before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Coolidge Ave. and S. Grand Ave.

When police made the traffic stop, and made contact with the driver, adult passenger, and three small children, when police noted the driver had a strong odor of marijuana.

Police asked the man to step out of the vehicle. It was at that time, that the driver admitted to being an avid marijuana smoker. He told police that they would find 20 roaches in the ash tray if they conducted a search of the vehicle.

The man added that he was with his kids - but would not smoke around them.

A subsequent search of his vehicle was performed, and there was not a testable amount of marijuana found, police stated.

The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a license and non-registration of auto.

He was advised to park the car, and call for a ride or walk.
