Shielded Hearts Partners with Local Police Departments & Child Protection Center to Bring Holiday Joy to Needy Children

With the Holiday Season upon us, we'd like to help spread the word about a very special gift drive throughout southeastern Wisconsin to benefit needy children.
Shielded Hearts, a local group of women in long-term committed relationships with men in law enforcement, participating local police departments and the Child Protection Center (CPC) are launching their annual “RoundUp” drive for kids in need this holiday season. Now through Dec. 16, more than 10 drives will be taking place throughout southeastern Wisconsin and will collect new toys and stuffed animals for children coming through the foster care system or who have been affected by unfortunate situations.
The Child Protection Center provides assessments to abused, neglected, and foster care children in Milwaukee County. Doctors, nurses, social workers, mental health professionals, and members of the criminal justice system work together to provide a team approach to help protect children from further abuse and offer the necessary resources to help them heal.

“Right now, our inventory is very, very low,” says Milwaukee Police Department Sensitive Crimes Division CPC liaison, Karla Lehmann. “The items collected through RoundUps will allow us to have items on hand to give to kids in need throughout the year.” RoundUp donations are distributed to the CPC and participating Law Enforcement Agencies and allow officers and CPC staff to pass them out to children they encounter during the course of their investigations and interactions.
Those interested in donating new stuffed animals and toys can drop off unwrapped items at participating Police Departments in the greater Milwaukee area now through Dec. 16. Participating agencies include:
