WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha police said that the cause of a suspicious fire on Sunday was likely an accident.

According to police reports, the third floor was full of smoke, and the fire alarms were activated. Authorities advised residents to evacuate the building as first-responders were en route.

Police told Waukesha patch that an intoxicated resident possibly put a cigarette out in a garbage can, which accidentally started the fire.

According to police reports, the Waukesha Fire Department extinguished a "small working fire." Police said the fire was suspicious in nature and were called to investigate the fire.

Nobody was injured as a result of the fire, according to reports.
