Suspicious Person Targets Waukesha Dog Walker's Pit Bull

WAUKESHA -- A dog walker who was out walking her pit bull ran into some suspicious company Tuesday night and believed they may have been trying to evaluate her dog to steal it for dog fighting.

According to police, the dog walker was out on Cambridge Drive just after 8 p.m. Tuesday when a white male wearing a black shirt got out of a silver van that was parked on the street and approached she and her dog.

The male reportedly began to pet the dog and began asking her several suspicious questions. At that time, a black male then got out of the van and stood at the front of it.

According to the report, the male looked like he may have been trying to take the collar of the dog while he was petting it, so the dog walker alertly left the area.

The suspect got back into the van and left the scene, but reportedly returned a short time later.

Police advised the female dog walker, who stated she would be on alert, notify neighbors of the incident, and change her dog walking patterns.
