Teens Stole Waukesha Woman's Car As She Loaded Groceries: Police

Police say the suspects were 15 and 16 years old, and were caught with the woman's car after a high-speed chase on I-94 Wednesday.

WAUKESHA, WI — Police in Waukesha say two teens were arrested after they stole a Waukesha woman's car and led authorities on a high-speed chase until they crashed in Wauwatosa.

Police say the suspects were 15 and 16 years old.

According to Waukesha police, a 66-year-old woman was loading groceries in to the trunk of her car just after 1:30 p.m. at the local Metro Market on Silvernail Road when a black SUV pulled up behind her.

The woman told police that a man jumped out of the SUV and grabbed her car keys from her. The woman told police she tried chasing the man around her car, only to have he, and another man jump into her car and drive off, police said.

According to police, a Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy saw the victim's car pass his location on I-94 at the Waukesha County line. Authorities said they chased the fleeing car east into Wauwatosa, where the suspects got off the interstate and fled north in the southbound lanes of Mayfair road.

Police said the pursuit ended when the drivers crashed the car on Mayfair Road at the Walnut Street intersection.

According to police, both suspects were arrested, and appeared to be uninjured as a result of the crash.

Police said both teens were transported to the Milwaukee County Juvenile Detention Center on Watertown Plank Road that day.
