A Milwaukee Firefighter is being called a hero after he saved a woman from jumping to her death on Milwaukee's Hoan Bridge.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee Firefighter is being called a hero after he saved a woman from jumping to her death on Milwaukee's Hoan Bridge.
On Tuesday morning, a woman bargaining for her life stood on the western ledge of the Hoan Bridge more than 100 feet above the waters she thought would mercifully claim her life.
An off-duty Milwaukee firefighter was driving home along Milwaukee's iconic Hoan Bridge and saw a young woman sitting outside of her car.

According to aFOX6 News report, the firefighter, Deputy Chief John Litchford, saw her move tot he ledge. He got out of his car and committed to helping the troubled young woman.
As authorities assembled a full dive and rescue team below, Litchford began to talk to the woman above.
He asked questions. He showed empathy, curiosity and compassion.

She came back from the ledge, and as authorities amassed behind him, Litchford - who has no training in negotiation - became a reluctant hero.
