Waukesha Apartment Fire Causes $120,000 In Damage: Report

Authorities say that the first-arriving fire engine found smoke coming from second floor windows and eaves.

WAUKESHA, WI -- A Waukesha apartment fire Wednesday afternoon displaced two families and caused about $120,000 in damage, fire officials say.

The Waukesha Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1528 David Ln. This is a two story four family apartment building. According to the Waukesha Fire Department, an apartment resident came home mid-afternoon and saw light smoke in the apartment.

When a bedroom door was opened fire was found inside. The resident called police, and the building was evacuated prior to fire department arrival.

Authorities say that the first-arriving fire engine found smoke coming from second floor windows and eaves. The fire was extinguished and contained to apartment three on the second floor. Apartment one
directly below on the first floor received water damage.

The Red Cross is assisting the occupants of apartments one and three. Apartments two and four are still habitable, fire investigators say. The fire is still under investigation by the Waukesha Fire and Police departments.

Waukesha fire personnel say the fire caused $120,000 in damage. There were no injuries to occupants or fire personnel.
