This Waukesha County Community Had the Highest Voter Turnout Last Presidential Election

Close races for president and U.S. Senate drew heavy voter turnouts during the last presidential election cycle in 2012.

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Close races for president and U.S. Senate drew heavy voter turnouts during the last presidential election cycle in 2012, when nearly 70 percent of Wisconsin's 4.4 million eligible voters in Wisconsin went to the polls.

But when it came to voters in Waukesha County, residents in Elm Grove came out as the clear winners.

According to figures compiled by Patch.com, voters in Elm Grove, Lac La Belle, Nashotah, Delafield and Wales all went to the polls at a rate of nearly 90 percent of all eligible voters. A majority of Waukesha County communities' voter turnouts were above 70 percent.

2012's figures surpassed the 2008 presidential election turnout of 69.2 percent of eligible voters, and come in just behind turnouts of 72.9 percent in 2004 and 73 percent in 1960.
