Waukesha County Jail Inmate Dies

A 78-year-old male inmate was found to be unresponsive and lifesaving measures were taken. A day later, he died in the hospital.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office Correctional staff responded to a medical emergency within the confines of the jail.

A 78-year-old male inmate was found to be unresponsive and lifesaving measures were taken. The inmate was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital via ambulance and was admitted.

On June 1, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office staff was notified that the inmate had passed away.

Sheriff Severson has requested the City of Waukesha Police Department investigate this incident. The inmate’s identity or any other information will not be released while the incident remains under investigation.
