Waukesha Drunk Driver Fled Scene As His SUV Caught Fire
The driver of an SUV fled the scene after he crashed into an electric pole, only to have the SUV catch fire. He was later arrested.

WAUKESHA, WI — The driver of an SUV fled the scene after he crashed into an electric pole, only to have the SUV catch fire.
Waukesha police responded to the 400 block of Fairview Ave. on a report of an intoxicated driver just after 9 p.m.
According to police reports, a caller reported seeing the driver of a white Mercury Villager crash into an electrical pole. The driver reportedly left the vehicle last seen on foot leaving the scene.

The driver was reportedly stumbling and possibly holding a can in his hand as an eyewitness described the unfolding scene to police.
A second caller who contacted police stated that they heard the crash, and that the vehicle caught fire. When police arrived, police saw smoking coming from the Villager, noting that the second person who called police put the fire out with a fire extinguisher.

The driver eventually returned to the scene where he was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
