Waukesha Lawyer Faces 60-day License Suspension Over Case

Authorities claim a Waukesha-area lawyer lied about a case involving an injured high school football player.

WAUKESHA, WI -- A Waukesha-area lawyer faces three counts of alleged misconduct and a potential 60-day suspension of his license after prosecutors say he lied to the family of a high school football player over the progress of their son's insurance appeal in court.

According to a report in the Wisconsin Law Journal, the Office of Lawyer Regulation claims that Michael Huitink represented the family of Benjamin and Ann Hruz after their son was denied coverage of a second surgery to treat their son following an injury he suffered while playing high school football.

According to the report, the Office of Lawyer Regulation claims that Huitink lied to the family, saying that he was working on an appeal to the insurance company's refusal to cover the surgery, when in fact no case was on file. In addition, the report states that Huitink lied about a $40,000 wire transfer that was made to a firm involved in the son's treatment - claiming it was from his law firm when it was actually from his personal account.
