Waukesha Man Defiantly Stands Before Street Sweeper

A drunk Waukesha man wouldn't move from the path of a street sweeper Friday, telling police it was unsafe because it was by a curb.

WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha man, certain that the path of an oncoming street sweeper was menacing and unsafe, stood before the machine until police arrived and moved him away.

According to reports, Waukesha police responded to the intersection of W. Main St. and Clinton St. just after 5 a.m. Friday on a report that the man, intoxicated, wouldn't get out of the way of a moving street sweeper.

Police reported that the man thought the street sweeper was driving in an unsafe manner due to being by the curb, and by traveling in the general direction that he was walking in.

A Waukesha Police officer explained to him what the point of a street sweeper was. It wasn't too much later before the man was advised on his walking in the roadway, and was promptly moved along without citation.
